Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the heart of Olympia, The Owl's Nest Coffee & Pastries offers an inviting retreat for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike. This charming coffee shop excels in crafting a diverse menu that celebrates both rich, expertly roasted coffee and innovative, flavorful plant-based fare. Whether you're craving a comforting latte or a vibrant, hearty lunch, The Owl’s Nest delivers with authenticity and warmth.

The drink selection is thoughtfully curated, featuring a 16oz latte made with your choice of oat, almond, soy, hemp, or local organic dairy milk—each cup a velvety balance of creaminess and espresso intensity. For those seeking something bold and refreshing, the cold brew made from Provisions coffee is robust, perfectly chilled, and invigorating. The mocha is a decadent treat, blending steamed milk, espresso, and the richness of Ghirardelli dark chocolate, sure to satisfy any sweet tooth without being overwhelming. Tea aficionados will appreciate their offering of Metolius herbal teas, providing soothing, nuanced alternatives to coffee.

The Owl’s Nest truly shines with its vegan and gluten-free baked goods, a thoughtful nod to inclusive, health-conscious dining. From the vegan strawberry shortcake scone bursting with local strawberry glaze to the maple pecan scone infused with Vermont maple syrup and crunchy pecans, each bite is a delightful play of textures and natural sweetness. The berry corn muffin, vegan and gluten-free, delivers a gentle burst of tartness and hearty cornmeal crumb. Don’t miss the fluffy vegan buttermilk biscuit served with northwest raspberry jam or the peanut butter cookie dotted with chocolate chips — both flavorsome and comforting choices.

Lunch offerings bring together fresh, locally inspired ingredients with creative twists. The Tempeh Reuben, enhanced by tangy Olykraut, caramelized onions, and a creamy thousand island dressing on sourdough, has been hailed even by Reuben skeptics as irresistibly tangy and savory. The avocado toast is a fresh, vibrant combination of ripe avocado, pickled shallots, and sesame seeds on hearty seeded sourdough, perfect for a refreshing midday bite. With dishes like the Oly Salad—a crisp medley of romaine, cabbage, rainbow carrots, roasted chickpeas, and garlic aioli—there is a crisp, wholesome balance to every plate. The breakfast sando, with its smoky chipotle flavors and melty cheddar layered with Just Egg on sourdough, offers a satisfying start to the day.

The ambiance at The Owl’s Nest embodies cozy sophistication. With a beautifully painted mural by local artist @painterfern, and both indoor seating and charming outdoor tables, it's a perfect sanctuary whether you’re catching up with friends or settling in with a good book. Customers consistently praise the warm, welcoming staff who remember your name and bring genuine care and friendliness to each visit, enriching the community feel.

Guests rave about the perfectly sized cinnamon roll—just enough gooey, flaky goodness without an overpowering sugar rush—and the balance of sweet syrupy touches in their lattes and specialty drinks. The thoughtful attention to flavor and presentation shines throughout the menu, making each visit feel special and comforting.

In essence, The Owl’s Nest Coffee & Pastries is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a cornerstone of Olympia’s vibrant food scene, combining quality, craft, and community. Whether you’re savoring their expertly roasted single-origin Peruvian coffee, indulging in a vegan pastry, or enjoying a creative lunch, this cozy spot leaves a warm glow that keeps customers coming back time and again.

The cafe is cute and comfy. The vegan sandwiches are so dang good. Especially the Reuben. And I don't even like Rubens but its so tangy and yummy. My husband loves the coffee and I always get a scone or cookie. One of my favorite spots in Olympia.

Absolutely amazing! Everything was delicious and the staff was great. My sister and I got the cinnamon roll and it was the cutest small size where you don’t get a sugar overload. It was the perfect combo of a crunchy flaky outside and a gooey soft inside. We drank the raspberry matcha, vanilla late and oat milk late that all of us enjoyed. We also had avocado toast and grilled cheese. Perfection. We love trying new coffee spots but this is one that will keep drawing us back.

We love Owl’s Nest! We go back and forth between both salads on the menu because they are both delicious and perfectly dressed. Often fun food and drink specials to try out, and the PASTRIES/desserts, oh my! You must try the cinnamon roll cookie…They recently expanded seating indoors (few tables outside too if that’s your jam) with a beautiful mural from local artist @painterfern and plenty of tables to enjoy your vegan and GF treats and coffee/tea drinks! Lovely staff and always have a bookshelf of the sort displaying local artists’ work for sale and fliers of ongoing community events. 11/10 Oly gem!

What a great coffee shop. The lattes are tasty, though the syrups lean on the sweeter side. The shop itself is cute and in a lovely area to hang out, with plenty of food options to go along with your coffee. The staff is always kind and welcoming, which makes the space feel extra inviting.

The Owl's Nest, where the diverse breakfast menu offers a delightful array of flavors that cater to every palate. The freshly roasted coffee is a standout, delivering a rich and aromatic taste that truly elevates your morning. The rustic and cozy ambiance makes it the perfect spot to relax and savor your meal. I can't wait to return for more of their delicious pastries and welcoming vibe!

I recently visited the Owls nest. I had a chai latte, breakfast panini and gluten free cookie. Total was $25 which I was a little surprised by. The chai latte was incredibly spicy. The panini was amazing. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The cookie was good.

I’ve been coming here regularly, and every visit just reminds me why I love this place. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive — they genuinely try to remember your name and make you feel like part of the community. You can tell they enjoy working together; there’s such an easy, friendly energy behind the counter. Their drinks are always beautifully made (they even make sure the latte art looks perfect every time!) and taste amazing — smooth coffee, flavorful chai, and consistently well-balanced flavors. The pastries are just as good: fresh, creative, and clearly baked with care. The cozy atmosphere, great music, and welcoming team make it a place I look forward to visiting — it’s the kind of café that brightens your day. Highly recommend

1st time at Owl’s Nest Coffee Shop in downtown Olympia, and it won’t be my last! The cozy, inviting atmosphere was the perfect place to read on a cold, rainy day. My pumpkin spice latte hit all the right notes: warm, perfectly spiced, and comforting. The avocado toast was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Can’t wait to go back and make this a regular spot!
